St. Peter’s Church of Karksi

The church is unique for its leaning tower, which, due to unstable ground, has tilted over a meter towards the west.

The valley of Karksi and the ruins of the medieval Order Castle

Karksi Valley is one of the most beautiful and well-known spots in Viljandi County. As you drive down the winding road, you can see Karksi Castle Hill, or “Kantsimägi,” rising above the Linnaveski lake. It is believed that, before the Crusader conquests, an ancient Estonian stronghold stood on this steeply sloped, naturally well-protected hill.
